Training on financial analysis for SCAs and important players on microfinance market
To support SCAs, RFS and other important players on Moldavian microfinance market regarding the methods of drafting and analysis of the financial statements and calculating the standard financial indicators required for accurate and timely assessment of the microfinance organization, CPIU-IFAD has organized the training “Financial Analysis for MFIs” during 21-23, 24-26 March 2016. The Russian Microfinance Center (RMC), certified provider of CGAP training courses in Eastern Europe, in the Russian language, has provided the training.
The focus of the course was on understanding of the importance of financial analysis management and its connection with decision-making on key issues of development and growth of MFIs, as well as practical recommendations to improve the work of staff, improve the efficiency and profitability of the organization as a whole. The trainer, Marina Samartseva have considerable experience in microfinance, familiar with the market of microfinance services and have excellent training skills.
Representatives from SCAs, Central Association of SCAs, Central Union of SCAs, National Commission for Financial Markets and CPIU-IFAD - 41 persons have attended the training, being divided in two groups, the training for each group lasting 3 days.
The main topics of the training course were:
· Sustainability of MFI;
· Review of financial statements and transforming of standard accounting reports in the managerial format;
· Analysis of the quality of the loan portfolio;
· Reserve for loan losses - why and how to do it;
· Analytical amendment to the financial statements (for inflation, subsidized cost of funds and grants in kind);
· Liquidity indicators, Performance indicators, their analysis and application in the context of decisions-making;
· Profitability, analysis and application in the context of decisions-making.
The participants to the training have highly appreciated the quality of the presented information and its usefulness.
The trainig course have been financed under the Rural Finance Component of the Rural Financial Service and Agribusiness Development Project (IFAD V).
